It’s been two weeks since this little lady built her shambolic nest on our balcony table and laid three perfect eggs. We weren’t sure whether to feed her or not, then found out collared doves stop foraging for food just before laying eggs, to make their milk purer for their hatchlings. Thus they are a symbol of self-sacrificing motherhood. How lovely.
